a Composite material avionic seat optimization

An avionic seat was design in order to reduce it weight, to meet new costumer specification.

At avionic systems, airplanes, helicopters ect.. the weight issues are dramatically important, especially in commercial airplane were every small part at the passenger compartment is multiply by the passengers number.
This is the case shown here the target is to reduce the seat base weight of an airplane, but in the same time to keep its mechanical properties. The seat has some mechanical constrain due to the concoction to the seat system, as well as mechanical size dimension at some locations.
A composite material optimization was done, in order to keep the above demands, the composite material direction (0°, 45°, 90°) as well as thickness and geometrical shape were part of the parameters.

At the final stage a reduction of about 20% at the weight was achieved.
